MESH is a Fair Trade organization in India. As members of the WFTO (World Fair Trade Organization), they adhere to all principles of Fair Trade. The focus of their work is to work alongside those who are disabled, and those who are affected by leprosy. Together they work towards rehabilitation through the creation of handicrafts.
Their main mission and goals are to provide opportunities and employment for these wonderful artisans and their dependents. Their goal is to help the artisans ultimately become self-sufficient. Here are some of the ways that they support them:
Training individuals to produce goods that are best suited for their capabilities
Serving as a guide to their artisans in the selection of what will be able to sell well in the global market
Assisting in obtaining raw materials
Ensuring prompt payment for goods to provide constant cash flow and working capital for the artisans
Helping maintain the quality of the products being produced
Helping secure orders with the goal of providing full time employment for artisans
As The Intersection, we were able to meet MESH and loved the mission and goals of the organization, and the product that they produce. We are proud to now carry some of their handmade items in our store.
